Jesus is Enough = BOLDNESS

For those who don't know, I gave my first talk at our Clemson Campus Outreach meeting this past Wednesday. Honestly, it is still fresh on my mind, so I plan to share what I talked about with you. The theme for our meetings this semester has been Enough. We hoped through this theme the question "IS JESUS ENOUGH FOR ME?" would prick the students' hearts. This week my message was "Jesus is Enough = BOLDNESS." A heart that believes Jesus is enough will lead to a life of boldness. 1 Thessalonians 2:2 says
"But though we had already suffered and been shamefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we had boldness in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in the midst of much conflict." Paul has left Philippi where he was dragged into the street, charged with sedition and sent to jail for doing the Lord's work. Now he travels to Thessalonica where the troubles ahead are even more dangerous. However, he walks with boldness, which means showing or requiring a fearless spirit. Where does he get it? In the verse above, Paul says his boldness is in God. God influenced everything in Paul's life. Paul's hope was in God (Romans 15:13). Paul's trust was in God (2 Corinthians 1:9). Paul says in Romans 8:18, "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." Therefore, Paul didn't fear any upcoming trouble because God was everything to him and all that he needed. Many people walked with this same boldness. Isaiah shared to people who wouldn't listen, but that didn't stop him (Isaiah 12:2), Stephen was stoned for the gospel (Acts 7:55-60). Peter was crucified, and because of the love he had for the Father, asked to be crucified upside down. These men believed Christianity was about what they gained, not what they gave up. They had Jesus and that was enough for them. They counted everything as loss, even their lives, for HIM.

So after reading, this I want to ask you, is your heart believing Jesus is enough? Are you walking with boldness to meet whomever, share with whomever, serve and love whomever, and not care about anything that may come in your way because Jesus is enough?

I pray that this is true for us and that our hearts would believe that Jesus is enough.
